Summer Fun For Meaford Lawn Bowling Club

The Meaford Lawn Bowling Club continues to be very busy providing recreational and competitive opportunities for fun and healthy physical activity for ages 6 to (so far, 86).

Recently, the club hosted an Open Pairs Tournament on July 3. There were rain breaks between, but they managed to complete two and a half games and then winners were declared. In first place were Steve Schuknecht and Katie Schuknecht from Chesley. Barb Schuknecht and Andy Kaufman, also from Chesley, were second. In third place was the Meaford team of Andrew Blaney and Maureena Boutari, who took over from Jill Calvert-Goetz and Wendy Calvert-Morris who filled in as a last minute entry when an out-of-town team cancelled. The consolation draw was won by Brad Tichbourne and Jeff Tichbourne. This tournament was made possible by a generous donation from Royal LePage Locations North.

The Junior Program also kicked off on July 3. Students from seven classes from Georgian Bay Community School had come to the club twice with their teachers, during a four-week span in June. They learned to lawn bowl and as a result, many have joined the junior program to have even more fun. This is the third summer for the Junior Program and this year the club welcomed back a few participants who have been there since the beginning.

The juniors bowl Monday and Wednesday from 11:30 to 12:30 all summer. Adult times are Monday and Wednesday 9:30 a.m., and Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday at 7 p.m. And don’t forget: for the party crowd, there is ‘Rock and Bowl’ on Friday nights beginning at 7 p.m. https://www.facebook.com/meafordlawnbowlingclub/ https://www.meafordlawnbowling.ca/, info@meafordlawnbowling.ca
