Recently, our Bighead River growing project organized a Canadian Foodgrains Bank Ontario online auction to raise funds for the Foodgrains Bank mission of feeding hungry people around the world.
Through the help of Sydenham Auction and Appraisal Services in Rockford, we were able to raise over $10,300. We wish to pass on our sincere thanks to the many people, both locally and across the province, who donated items and to those who bid on them. The auction exceeded our expectations thanks to the generosity of all those who participated.
This money is eligible to be matched up to 4:1 by Global Affairs Canada. At a time when the number of people facing hunger exceeds 690 million around the world and is increasing because of poverty, conflict, climate change, and the Covid pandemic, this effort will help many hundreds and possibly thousands of people. Thank you for helping to care for those without enough food.
