Flex your memory muscles and hearken back to December 4, last year when Mother Nature took an opportunity to show who was boss and forced Christmas On The Bay to make the heartbreaking and difficult decision to cancel the Spirit of Inclusion Concert: Take 2, Joy and Harmony.
“The decision was based solely on ensuring the safety of the participants when the buses weren’t running due to the winter storm,” said Mary Solomon, Acting Director of DEI for Christmas On The Bay. Mary went on to say that “the words postponed or rescheduled” weren’t thought about at the time, because it was all in for safety first.
The old adage the show must go on stuck, and combined with witnessing the disappointment of the over 73 eager and enthused performers, the decision was made to reschedule to June 24 of this year.
Audience members will be treated to heart-warming and inspiring performances presented by some very talented members of our community with diverse abilities. Performers from REACH Choir, Dancing with Parkinsons, and the ROXY Star Company will be live on stage, and Events for Life will be showcasing their two professionally made music videos. You will be tapping your foot and singing along to favourites and classics.
One of the MCs, Allie Cooper, said that, “Christmas On The Bay means community and inclusion which is key for all the performers and the MCs as well. The MCs see all of the other performers thrive on the stage and feel included. It doesn’t matter what your needs are, the community still enjoys seeing all of us perform even if we make a mistake.”
“Special thanks to our sponsors Straw Hat Restorations, TD, Community Foundation Grey Bruce, and Climate Ready Together for their support and encouragement,” said organizers.
This relaxed performance concert takes place on Wednesday, June 24, 1 – 2:30 p.m. at the Meaford Hall Opera House.
Tickets are needed to attend and are free, and can be picked up at the Meaford Hall box office, starting June 16.
