Editor,
I want to add to Jim Hepple’s commentary in his letter last week.
Over a span of several years, SGB has only been able to persuade, through use of dishonest information, 3,000 people (26%) of possibly Meaford residents, to sign their petition.
Jim did not make the point that of the other 74% of Meaford residents, a large percentage are supporters of the Pumped Storage project.
I am among those who think Ontario needs a renewable energy storage facility to reduce the need for gas (CO2 generating) peak energy plants.
I also believe that Meaford will benefit from jobs, tourism, and tax revenue.
I also think that TC Energy has done a good job in responding to concerns of Meaford citizens. Calling TCE experts and engineers liars is illogical and maybe libellous.
Dave MacDougall, Meaford
Editor’s Note: I think it would be a stretch to suggest that 74% of Meaford residents support the proposal, but it is definitely fair to say that a significant number seem at least indifferent to the proposal.
