Planning For 2025 Scarecrow Invasion Underway

The planning for the 2025 Scarecrow Invasion is underway. The hardy scarecrows braved the snow and ice for their first meeting of the year in February.

This year’s Parade and Festival will be held on October 3, with the Invasion planned to begin shortly after Labour Day in September. The Kazoo Band, newly re-energized by Music Director Jen Burak, will also be performing throughout the year.

A change being considered for this year is to have no theme for the invasion, which would save the costs of customizing costumes and props. Instead, there would be a theme for the parade only. If you have any thoughts on this, feel free to DM organizers on their social media or email info@scarecrowinvasion.com.

As always, there will be several workshops during the summer where we’re hoping members of the community will once again come out and help build the scarecrows needed for the Invasion. With the change in process initiated last year by Decorating Chair Cindy Rees, you can now build a whole scarecrow in one workshop, customizing it to your liking,” said organizers. “We’d love to have a few more volunteers join the organizing team. Whether you’re looking for an outlet for your creativity, or enjoy organizing and coordinating, we have something for everyone. If you’re interested in possibly joining the team, please contact Christine at cpompeo@scarecrowinvasion.com for more information. The team meets monthly and the next meeting is on March 20, which could be a good opportunity to come out and see if it feels like a good fit.”

Information about workshops, contests, parade, festival and more can be found on their website scarecrowinvasion.ca. You can also follow them on Facebook and Instagram for updates about upcoming events and opportunities.
