Owen Sound Poet Laureate Tenure Extended

The Owen Sound & North Grey Union Public Library Board has passed a resolution extending the tenure of Owen Sound’s Poet Laureate.

That the Library Board, in recognition of both the current challenges involved in presenting public performances and Richard-Yves Sitoski’s exemplary work as the current Poet Laureate approve a one-year extension to his Poet Laureate term,” read the motion passed by the board.

With the one-year extension, the tenure of the current Poet Laureate will now run to September 2022. 

We thank Richard-Yves for his outstanding work to date and look forward to seeing what new, creative and exciting poetry he brings to the community over the next year,” saidCarolin Brooks, Poet Laureate Committee member.

Everyone is welcome to join us for the Zoom launch of Richard-Yves Sitoski’s new book No Sleep ‘til Eden published by the Ginger Press, Feb. 16 at 7:00pm.

No Sleep ’til Eden is 2019-2021 Owen Sound Poet Laureate Richard-Yves Sitoski’s Legacy Project — a multimedia book of poems on the environment that includes augmented reality visual art, animation, and video and audio clips accessible through a free online browser developed by Owen Sound tech firm KP9 Interactive.

Richard-Yves will be joined by musician Dave Hawkins along with contributions from other special guests connected with this unique project, followed by a Q&A.

Copies of No Sleep ‘til Eden are available for purchase from the Ginger Press in Owen Sound and for loan from the Library.
