May 2 was the first day that candidates could officially submit their nomination papers for the offices of Mayor, Deputy Mayor, Councillor, or School Board Trustee for the 2022 Municipal and School Board Elections.
“Running for municipal council or a trustee position is a great way to make a difference in our municipality,” said Matt Smith, Clerk/Director of Community Services, Municipality of Meaford. “We invite anyone who is considering being a candidate in the municipal and school board election to visit our website or contact us in the Clerk’s Office for more information.”
Candidate nomination packages are available for pick up at the Administration Office at 21 Trowbridge Street West, and online at www.meafordvotes.ca. Candidates are requested to make an appointment with the Clerk’s Department to file their nomination papers, and can do so by calling the Deputy Clerk at 519-538-1060, ext. 1100.
Information about nominations:
- Nominations are open from May 2 to August 19, at 2 p.m.
- Filing fees are $200 for Mayor or $100 for Councillor or Trustee
- Photo ID must be shown at time of filing
- Nomination forms must be filed before candidates can accept election contributions or incur campaign expenses
