55+ Friendship Club to Host Candidate Meetings

mfd ballot box2014Meaford's 55+ Friendship Club has been in existence for 20 years. They meet weekly from September to June at the Community Centre from 2:00 pm until about 4:00 pm.

The club has games days, parties, trips both long and short, and speakers of interest. They have also always invited all candidates for office at every level to attend their meetings as a group so that their members can get to know them better, and as such make an informed decision when voting.

A Big Meaford Welcome!

The Meaford Chamber of Commerce is welcoming newcomers to the area and the whole municipality is invited!   On September 13 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Meaford Curling Club, in a “trade fair” format, local groups, clubs and organizations will provide information on how to get involved in our wonderful community.

Home Horizon Establishes Meaford Office

home horizonElaine didn't live on the street. For the first three weeks, she slept on a friend's couch, and her daughter used a sleeping bag on the floor. Each morning, she rolled it up and tucked it behind the couch, setting her teddy bear on top. When Elaine's friend gently told her she needed her space back, Elaine called an old work mate and asked if she could visit for a few days. When her welcome there wore out – as she knew it would eventually – she didn't know what to do.

New Canine Officer For Grey County OPP

OPPLogoGrey County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) has a new Canine Officer. Provincial Constable Dan Bailey has been a member of the OPP since 1998.  He began his career at the Haldimand-Norfolk OPP Detachment in Simcoe, Ontario.

In 2005, PC Bailey became a member of the OPP Crime Prevention and Investigation Unit in Fort Francis, near Thunder Bay, Ontario, as a Canine Officer.
