The Meaford Culture Foundation (MCF) has announced a new scholarship fund aimed at helping local graduates with the costs of post-secondary education. The scholarship is available to students who currently reside in Meaford, or who are graduating from the Meaford high school, and who have been accepted into their first year of an arts or culture based program at an accredited college or university.
Qualifying areas of study include fine arts, music, dance, visual arts, graphic arts, film and TV, photography, literature, and other programs that relate to culture and creative arts. A one-time scholarship of $1,000 will be awarded annually.
To apply, students will have to show proof of enrolment, and submit an essay along with samples of their work.
“With growing pressures on today’s youth, we felt compelled to find a way to encourage students who wish to pursue an education in arts and culture. It is through these areas of studies where our youth can develop critical skills such as creativity, thoughtfulness, critical thinking, and self-expression, which will serve them for a lifetime, no matter what they end up doing after graduating,” said Angela Forder, Director of Community Outreach for the Meaford Culture Foundation.
Meaford Culture Foundation is a fully independent, not-for-profit, registered, charitable organization whose mission is to raise funds for arts and culture initiatives in the community and capital projects at Meaford Hall. MCF was established in 2006.
Applications are due June 30 of each year. For more information visit: https://meafordculture.ca/scholarships/
