National AccessAbility Week: Meaford Hall & Museum

It’s Day 4 of National AccessAbility Week.

The Municipality of Meaford has a vibrant cultural scene for all to enjoy. Today, we’re pulling back the curtain on accessibility at Meaford Hall and Meaford Museum.

Meaford Hall is fully accessible at street level and has an elevator that goes from street to stage with all stops in between, including the main floor of the theatre and stage level. The theatre features accessible seating and a hearing assist system. Larger, motorized wheelchairs can be used in the theatre too. Lowered counters are in place at the bar and the box office. Meaford Hall provides a complimentary ticket to the companion of anyone who requires support to enjoy the programming. Service animals are always welcome and washrooms are barrier-free.

Meaford Museum will soon be upgrading its washroom facilities to include new accessible doors and a barrier-free washroom. Museum staff are always mindful of the exhibit space and work to create a barrier-free environment. They are currently working on a self-guided tour map for the Museum to assist with visitor traffic flow. In future, the Museum plans to add QR codes to the exhibits to provide translation and spoken word interpretation.
