The Municipality of Meaford is launching its Short-Term Rental (STR) Registry, the first step in the phased approach to developing a short-term rentals program. The registry is part of the 2026 implementation phase approved by Council, which focuses on establishing clear administrative foundations for STR oversight.
“Launching this registry is an essential first step in strengthening safety, accountability, and clarity for short-term rental operators and the community,” said Amy Cann, Director of Development Services. “By collecting consistent information now, we’re building a solid foundation for the licensing framework that will follow in the coming years.”
All STR operators are encouraged to register, which will document key safety and operational details, including a fire safety plan, parking plan, and an owner code of conduct. These requirements support safe, responsible rental activity, and prepare owners for future licensing phases planned for 2027 and 2028.
The STR application form is available for download at meaford.ca/STR. Completed forms may be submitted by email, by mail, or in person with the $50 registration fee. Instructions and support materials are provided to assist owners in meeting all requirements.
