Meaford Public Library Welcomes Local Author Jennifer McGuire

The Meaford Public Library will host 2025 CBC Nonfiction Prize shortlist contender and local author Jennifer McGuire on Tuesday, March 3 at 1 p.m., for the first of the Coffee House Reads series.

McGuire is a travel writer, essayist, and author of the memoir Nest: Letting Go from Italy, France, and Ireland in which she made good on a daydream. A promise to herself as she raised four boys on her own: “Someday Italy. Someday France. Someday, maybe even Ireland.” When her boys all moved out, she finally realized that dream.

McGuire’s 2025 CBC Nonfiction Prize shortlist book, The First Apartment, is available to read on CBC books online. The inspiration for this book came from her own personal life experiences.

Tickets are $5 per person and can be purchased in advance at the Meaford Public Library (cash only). The ticket price includes a hot beverage and sweet treat from Savvy Co.

Signed copies of Nest will be available for purchase at the event, cash or e-transfer only.

For more information, please contact the Meaford Public Library at 519-538-3500, or email libraryinfo@meaford.ca. This event is sponsored by the Friends of Meaford Library.

The Meaford Public Library looks forward to welcoming Raven Murphy, author of Shut Up and Listen on Friday, April 17, and Suzanne Raby, author of Frozen in Time: Shelter of Stones on Thursday, May 7, as our other Coffee House Reads authors.
