On Friday, March 4, local MPP Bill Walker met with members of the Meaford Curling Club to formally congratulate them on receiving a $30,700 Community Building Fund grant, a program from the Government of Ontario and administered by the Ontario Trillium Foundation. The grant, designed to help the Club with key operating costs, has been used to help with staffing, equipment and personal protective equipment.
“This Ontario Trillium Foundation Community Building Fund Grant is an investment in the long term sustainability of Meaford Curling Club and will ensure the people of Meaford and area are able to benefit from the physical and social benefits of participating in the great sport of curling. I wish the participants and the members of the Curling Club much continued success,” noted Bruce-Grey-Owen Sound MPP, Bill Walker.
The club is using the grant to help with hiring two ambassadors to assist with COVID protocols as well as the purchase of plexiglass shields, cleaning supplies and other expenses for the season.
The Community Building Fund’s operating stream grant program has helped 21 local non-profits in the tourism, arts and culture and sports and recreation fields in the area.
