If anyone is looking for an outdoor activity this summer, consider lawn bowling.
The Meaford Lawn Bowling Club would like to welcome you to ‘The Green’.
“We play the Scottish game of skill and strategy. It’s a little like bocce ball because you roll a round object toward a smaller one on grass. The object we throw is round with flat sides and its path curves, which is a little like curling. It is called a ‘bowl’ rather than a ball,” said the club. “This year we have morning and evening sessions and a few tournaments for participants 12 or older (with no upper age limit!) New this year, is our summer Junior program starting at age 6.”
Bowls are provided. All you need are flat-bottomed shoes (any kind that won’t damage the green.)
Free Clinics start May 25. Regular lawn bowling starts May 30 and the first club tournament is June 4. June 6 is the date for the Open Pairs tournament sponsored by the Meaford Rotary Club with participants from surrounding counties.
