Meaford Lawn Bowling Club members have been hard at work making improvements at the club. Whoever said “many hands make light work” missed the mark here. The sod and sand were very heavy, regardless of the great turnout of helpers. Repairs were made inside the clubhouse as well as to the playing surface (the green), and new equipment was purchased for green maintenance with the help of a grant received. A ‘painting bee’ was scheduled for the weekend as well.
It is going to be another busy season starting with Opening “Try it!” Clinics and Members’ Practice times:

Regular bowling begins at 9:30 a.m. on Monday, May 26. Fees and bowling times for jitneys (games with teams made up from those present) will be the same as last year (Monday and Wednesday 9:30 a.m., Tuesday and Thursday 7 p.m.)

In the month of June, Georgian Bay Community School students will be dropping in to experience lawn bowling and junior bowling will once again be in July and August for ages 6 to 18.
“Donations from local businesses help us to offer a fun outdoor activity for ages 6 to 80+ (currently). We are still looking for district and club tournament sponsors. Many thanks to all businesses who have committed funds for this year,” said the club.
New members are welcome. No experience necessary. No equipment needed. You just need shoes with no heels and a desire to have fun outdoors.
