Wally Gabler and Carole Cushing have made a very generous donation of $70,000 to the Meaford Hospital Foundation.
“$50,000 of this important gift will support the new Cataract Surgery Suite at the Meaford Hospital, which is scheduled to open in the Winter of 2022. The remaining $20,000 is dedicated towards upgrading the Patient Lounge within the hospital,” said Rob Peacock, CEO of the Meaford Hospital Foundation.
The Cataract Surgery Suite will include state-of-the-art technology – a microscope with software that will enable patients to have the lens replaced with one that corrects nearsightedness, farsightedness, and astigmatism.
The Patient Lounge is a hub of comfort and provides a change of environment away from clinical areas for patients and visitors. The Gabler/Cushing gift will upgrade this essential space where family groups can visit and patients may safely socialize.
With an aging population that continues to grow, there is an urgent need to ensure Grey Bruce Health Services has the technology and proper facilities to deliver high quality care that’s close to home.
The Meaford Hospital Foundation works with all system partners, patients, donors, municipalities, community members, and other stakeholders in supporting our health care system.
“We thank Wally and Carole very much for this outstanding year-end contribution,” said John Leckie, Chair, Meaford Hospital Foundation.
