Double Feature Author at the Meaford Public Library

The Meaford Public Library will present Harriet Alida Lye on Saturday, June 17, for a family story time at 10:30 a.m. and an author talk for her latest novel at 2 p.m.

Harriet Alida Lye is an accomplished author for children and adults. Her debut children’s book, Serge the Snail Without a Shell, is about a slug who is desperate to fit in. He embarks on an adventure to find a shell and learns to just be himself. Alida Lye will be reading Serge the Snail Without a Shell at the story time followed by a simple craft.

Let It Destroy You is historical fiction for adults. It is inspired by Leo Szilard – the physicist who invented the atomic bomb and the cobalt radiation machine that still treats cancers today, and the letters he wrote to his wife. It is a stunning novel of morality, creation, and loss. Alida Lye will share her experiences writing this novel, read excerpts, and answer questions from the audience.

Copies of the books will be available to purchase at the event, courtesy of Jessica’s Book Nook, Serge the Snail Without a Shell for $14.95, and Let It Destroy You for $24.95. Cash, debit, or credit will be accepted.

Registration is required for the 2 p.m. author talk. To register, call 519-538-3500, email libraryinfo@meaford.ca, or visit the Meaford Public Library.
