Community Foundation Grey Bruce (CFGB) has six new scholarships open and accepting applications from eligible students enrolled in post-secondary studies in the fall.
The Foundation now offers 36 scholarships for local students. This year, there will be over $150,000 available to support our community in their post-secondary education.
“We are so fortunate to have generous individuals and organizations that have created endowments for the purposes of granting scholarships in perpetuity. Our list keeps growing!” said Stuart Reid, Executive Director of CFGB.
Opportunities are available for students attending University, College, and trade schools, and many are open to students continuing in their second, or upper years of education in addition to those entering for their first year. New this year;
- Darlene Vanwyck Award in Media Studies supports students with a demonstrated commitment to their community and studying in the fields of radio, television, broadcasting, film/video production or photography.
- Doreen Norris Scholarship supports students who have been involved in music with their post-secondary studies. Eligibility lists a preference for students from Georgian Bay Community School.
- Grey Bruce Musicians Scholarship is new to the spring application line up and supports students seeking to expand their music education including music camp fees, lessons, or post-secondary education.
- Sharifur Rahman Memorial Scholarship supports the post-secondary studies of Grey Bruce students with a preference for applicants who either themselves or their parents are newcomers to Canada as immigrants or refugees.
- Smart & Caring Education Bursary is for any Grey Bruce student in any field of post-secondary study.
- Stephen Hogbin Award for Wood Working Studies support students in programs related to woodworking including contemporary craft and design, cabinet making, wood carving, joinery, carpentry, and wood turning.
