On Saturday, November 1, more than 1,800 high school students from across Ontario travelled to Heart Lake Conservation Area in Brampton to take part in the OFSAA Cross-Country Championships. Competition at this event was fierce, with close to 300 athletes crowding the start line for each race. On Thursday, October 23, eleven brave GBCS cross-country runners headed to Ariss, near Guelph, to compete in this year’s CWOSSA (Central Western Ontario Secondary Schools Association) race. Runners awoke to skies that were teeming with rain. They donned their rain gear and quite literally took the plunge—driving two hours to the race site and crossing their fingers that the skies might clear.
