Dear Editor,
I would like to thank everyone who attended the downtown winter celebration on Saturday, December 4. It was nice to see people out supporting our local merchants and enjoying the Christmas spirit.
As with all events it takes planning and dedication from groups in our community. Please join me in thanking the Mayor as well as Janet Sperling, Jenn Brebner, and the town employees. The popcorn was supplied by the Meaford Cultural Foundation, the use of the popcorn machines was donated by Brian Johnson, and with the Meaford Chamber of Commerce Executive handing it out it was a great treat. As well, the hot apple cider supplied by Christ Church Anglican and the hot chocolate by Olivet Baptist Church sure warmed everyone up on the chilly evening.
A special thanks to Bill Monahan for setting up and taking down the sound system, Georgie Donais of mutable ARTS for the dancing window, Kim Ware from the Chamber of Commerce for helping to organize the event, and of course the Meaford Kinsmen for organizing and running the parade and meeting Santa afterwards.
Thank you,
Trevor Shaw, Chair, Meaford BIA
