Appreciation For Entertainment at Meaford Hall

Hello,

I am writing this note to express my appreciation of the great entertainment being provided by Meaford Hall. I also would like to comment on an incident which happened during a recent performance.

The performing artists for April 25, 2024, were the Great Lake Swimmers, with special guest Melissa Payne.

The Great Lake Swimmers’ performance exceeded my expectations. Their combination of new and not so new material was much appreciated and enjoyed. Tony Dekker and his fellow performers seemed to be enjoying every minute in front of the audience, performing with unabashed enthusiasm.

Melissa Payne is an extremely talented performer, vocally and instrumentally.

The audience was thoroughly enjoying Melissa’s opening act until “some random dude” took it upon himself to interrupt Melissa’s solo performance by forcing himself into her act only to prove himself a novice at playing the violin. Shame on him for his attitude of entitlement, shame on the two dudes in attendance with him who allowed him to advance himself onto the stage. Unfortunately Hall staff came from the stage wings just a little late to put a stop to his doings.

Melissa showed her professionalism and moxie by performing a fabulous violin instrumental following the “random dude’s” departure from the stage. This is how a violin is played, dude.

Front of house did speak with the “random dude” at intermission only to have him laugh it off.

I would like to thank Tony Dekker, who recognized Melissa for her great talent, not only her performance as opening act but how she tolerated an interruption by “some random dude”.

I trust this incident was random and other audiences not have to tolerate behaviour by such individuals in future.

Cheers,

Ken Gray, Bognor
