Staff
As part of the final Regular Meeting of the Board for the 2017 – 2018 school year on June 19, Bluewater District School Board honoured community members for their outstanding volunteer work and contributions to our local education system.
Trustees took turns at the podium recognizing each of the 2018 Awards of Excellence recipients from their respective ‘family of schools’. Those in attendance had an opportunity to hear about the many exemplary ways in which the recipients have positively impacted student achievement and well-being within their school communities. Examples included nutrition programs, assisting students in the classroom, helping to transition newcomer families, supporting parent engagement, sports coaching, and fundraising, to name a few.
While it is impossible to honour every individual who contributes to the betterment of education in Bluewater District School Board, the Awards of Excellence provide a snapshot of those who do so much to support the academic, physical, social, and emotional development of our students. Recipients are nominated by others within their family of schools, including teachers, administrators, parents, guardians, students, support staff, and/or community members. By virtue of the process, there is distinction in merely being nominated.
Congratulations and heartfelt thanks are extended to the following recipients of the 2018 Awards of Excellence:
Bruce Peninsula District School/Peninsula Shores District School Family of Schools: Trevor Hathaway
Georgian Bay Community School Family of Schools: Karen Trusler
