Fall Fair Awards Handed Out

The Awards Banquet for the Meaford and St. Vincent Fall Fair was held Friday October 7, at the Meaford Curling Club.

After a delicious roast beef dinner, welcome remarks were made by Junior Ambassador, Madi Lewis. Next, awards were presented to many young agriculture enthusiasts. Junior calf show trophies were presented to a number of young show people under the age of 10.

The St. Vincent 4-H Calf Club awards were next. Members of the club introduced themselves and their role in the club. President Taylor Campbell share highlights of the club’s season. Next were the presentations of club awards.

Taylor Campbell received the annual Andrew McKean Memorial Award for Grand Champion Showperson. This award is sponsored by Earth Power Tractor. She also won Champion Dairy Showperson, sponsored by Chris and Natalie Mather, high quiz score, sponsored by the Agricultural Society and received recognition for her excellent Log Book.

Jack Vickers won the Reserve Champion Dairy Showperson sponsored by Murray and Ann Kerr. Travis Fulford received the award for his Champion Beef Calf, sponsored by Garry and Sheila Smart. Jenna Robertson received the award for Reserve Champion Beef Calf.

In the dairy ring, Jack Vickers won the Grand Champion Dairy Calf award sponsored by the St. Vincent 4-H Calf Club and Cassandra Vickers won the Reserve Champion Dairy Calf award.

In the beef ring Bailey Campbell received the award for Champion Beef Showperson, sponsored by Mike Pedlar of Huron Bay Co-op and Travis was awarded Reserved Champion Beef Showperson sponsored by Murray and Ann Kerr.

First-year member Cheyanne Dickie was presented with the 4-H Spirit Award from Tracy and Mike McNally. Mikaela Adams received the award for Most Interested Member from Dwayne and Karen Moore. Throughout the season, members practiced their judging ability while developing critical thinking and communication skills.

The High Junior Judge was Will Adams and High Senior Judge was Alexa Campbell. The final award of the night was the prestigious Highest Aggregate Score sponsored by Natalie and Chris Mather. This year’s winner was Alexa Campbell.

The evening concluded with President of the Agricultural Society, Verla Cramp-White, thanking all those involved in another successful Fall Fair. She especially remarked on the 4-H club’s support of the Fall Fair and its long history. She acknowledged the hard work by the kids and their families that is required to train and bring these animals to the fair.
