Meaford resident Kathy Christie travelled with a team of seven volunteers from Sleeping Children Around the World to Honduras for two weeks in August to distribute 4,500 bed kits including a mattress, pillow and covers, blanket, mosquito net, clothing and backpacks filled with school supplies.
“Bed kits supplied by the organization go to boys and girls in developing countries so that they benefit from the comfort of a good night’s sleep and better face the challenges of the coming day,” Christie told The Independent.
The project in Honduras was a joint program with the Rotary Club of Tegucigalpa. Christie is a member of the Meaford Rotary Club.
