Unlocked Vehicles Entered in Leith

opp logo270On August 1, Grey County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) received information that four unlocked vehicles on Grey Rd. 15 in Leith, in the Municipality of Meaford, had been entered overnight. The stolen items included a watch, beer, and approximately $260. There are no suspects.

Grey County OPP remind residents of the “Lock it or Lose it” initiative which is a proactive crime prevention program to encourage vehicle owners to take a few simple precautions to prevent thefts from vehicles. Here are some helpful tips and reminders:

  • Always roll up your vehicle’s windows and lock the doors.

  • Never leave your vehicle unattended while it is running.

  • If you have a garage, use it and lock the door as well as your vehicle.

  • Never leave your car keys in plain view or in an easily accessible area.

  • Always park your vehicle in a well-lit area.

  • Never leave valuable objects or packages in full view. Put them in the trunk. Better yet, take them inside the residence.
