Save Georgian Bay is inviting residents to join them at noon on Saturday, September 5, at the Georgian Bay Beach Access at Harbour Beach Drive and Cedar Avenue, Meaford, where boaters, paddlers, cottagers, residents, and supporters from across Georgian Bay will assemble for the second annual Anchors Away Armada.
“This will demonstrate our commitment to protecting one of Canada’s most treasured freshwater ecosystems,” said organizers.
How to participate:
- Register your watercraft (no charge) at https://anchorsaway.savegeorgianbay.ca and watch the Commodore’s invitation video;
- Come by car and launch your kayak, canoe, or other paddle boat;
- Come by boat to rendezvous just offshore;
- If you don’t have a watercraft, that’s OK – be on the shore to cheer on the flotilla.
“Feel free to display signs or posters in support of saving the bay,” said organizers. “This peaceful gathering is an opportunity to show decision-makers that concern about the proposed TC Energy Pumped Storage Project continues to grow throughout the region.”
