The Centennial Committee of the Meaford Legion Branch 32 has announced a poster contest for students at Georgian Bay Community School. The contest is open to students of all grades to help celebrate the branch’s 100th anniversary. The theme of the poster contest is Service, Sacrifice, and Community. Four different divisions will award first, second, and third place prizes for submissions due on June 15.
Members of the Centennial Committee will judge the submissions on June 17. All posters may be used to promote the branch’s 100th anniversary celebration on Saturday, August 15. That day will begin with a celebratory march to rededicate the upgraded cenotaph. Members will gather afterward for a family portrait on the steps of Meaford Town Hall. Later in the day, members are invited to attend the rededication of the memorial windows at Christ Church Anglican. Finally, in the evening, there will be a special dinner in honour of the Legion’s 100th anniversary.
The Centennial Committee has placed posters around the school announcing the contest, which is open to all students, as well as outlining the individual divisions for each group. The Legion would like to thank Ms. Dana Roy for all her help as the contact person at Georgian Bay Community School. We look forward to sharing the results with the community.
