Owen Sound Leaf and Yard Waste Site is Open For the Season

The Owen Sound Leaf and Yard Waste compost site has opened its gates for 2026. Those using the site are asked to please take the time to read the allowed and prohibited materials list below, as the City continues to ensure compliance at the site.

The site will be open from 8:30 a.m. to 8 p.m., seven days a week, allowing the convenient disposal of leaf and yard waste materials.

The leaf and yard waste compost site is exclusively for the residents of Owen Sound, Municipality of Meaford, and Georgian Bluffs. Proof of residency may be required; users are expected to have their driver’s license or other proof of residency, such as a tax or utility bill, on hand.

Commercial businesses that use the Leaf and Yard Waste compost site to drop off residential material from Owen Sound, Georgian Bluffs, and the Municipality of Meaford can register through the City’s Leaf and Yard Waste site OwenSound.ca/Compost to obtain a permit. The Leaf and Yard Waste site is monitored by security; proof of residential work will be required.

The City of Owen Sound is currently considering a seasonal contractor fee of $200 for registered users. This proposal is subject to Council approval and, if approved, would take effect for the 2026 season. For more information, including timelines, please visit the Commercial Business Registration section at OwenSound.ca/Compost.
