The community is invited to come together for a special International Women’s Day celebration on Saturday, March 7, at Meaford United Church, in support of the Meaford Culture Foundation.
This inspiring event features a powerful lineup of guest speakers whose stories reflect resilience, leadership, and the vital role of women in agriculture and community life —perfectly aligned with the United Nations’ declaration of 2026 as the International Year of the Woman Farmer.
Featured speakers include:
- Bonnie Sitter, author of Onion Skins and Peach Fuzz, sharing the remarkable story of the Farmerettes—young women who kept Canada’s farms running during the Second World War
- Jessica Kenyon, the well-known Meaford Maven, community connector, and entrepreneur
- Julie Higginson, beef farmer and advocate for women in agriculture
Attendees will enjoy nibbles and refreshments, meaningful conversation, and a stellar vendor marketplace showcasing a diverse range of women-owned businesses, making the event both engaging and celebratory.
“This event not only honours International Women’s Day, but also highlights the critical contributions of women—past and present—to farming, culture, and community,” said organizer Andrea Roylance.
All proceeds from the event support the Meaford Culture Foundation, helping to sustain and grow arts and culture initiatives in the region.
