The Meaford Culture Foundation (MCF) has announced that the Meaford chapter of Magic of Children in the Arts, an organization supported by MCF, will be the recipient of funds raised during this year’s Tim Hortons Smile Cookie Campaign.
“Magic of Children in the Arts provides invaluable opportunities for primary school students to enjoy the creation of art,” said Dan White, president of the Foundation. “MCF is delighted that Tim Hortons Smile Cookie Campaign has chosen to support an organization that has such an amazing impact in our community.”
Magic of Children in the Arts provides art workshops at local schools to enhance their art class offerings. Its mission is to raise enough funds every year to provide these free classes to all primary school students. Currently, these workshops are provided free to all Grade 3, 6, and 8 classes in Meaford. Magic also hosts an art show that features as many children’s art pieces as possible in the Meaford Public Library.
This fundraising campaign for Magic will take place at Meaford’s Tim Hortons on November 17- 23. The cookies cost $2 each and Magic will receive $1 from the sale of each cookie. Boxes of 12 can be pre-ordered for pick-up during that week.
Since its first-ever Smile Cookie campaign in 1996, Tim Hortons has raised more than $130 million for charities and community groups selected every year by Tim Hortons restaurant owners. Last year, Smile Cookie raised $19.8 million, supporting over 600 charities and community groups across Canada and the United States.
MCF is a not-for-profit, volunteer organization, with federally granted charitable status. Throughout the year, they sponsor or provide funds for numerous community cultural activities and for enrichment opportunities at local schools – like Magic of Children in the Arts – through their Community Outreach programs. To date, they have provided over $335,000 in funding support for local arts and culture, and over $700,000 for renovations and refurbishments to the Meaford Hall Arts & Cultural Centre.
