Editor,
The Town of The Blue Mountains(TBM) is currently being held captive and accountable to one man, Kev Rostami, who is pushing TBM to provide him town-owned land on which to build an indoor tennis facilities. He is demanding space for 4-6 courts, serviced land, exempt from development charges and demands delivery by end of May 2025. He has no business plan or committed money.
The undivided attention of TBM staff meeting this man every 3 weeks, does not add up. Staff time is not free, nor is the TBM compromised Public Survey tied to this proposal.
This fellow wants TBM taxpayers to pay/give, loan, lease, land who knows, he does not have a business. Yet talks with staff and council continue!
I should think this would be considered a luxury, yet, not to one TBM councillor, it is ‘critical’.
During a time when we are far short on any affordable housing, economic uncertainty on global basis, is a tennis bubble really the way to go?
Personally I find it intolerable that this ‘country club’ way of thinking is permeating this town.
TBM Council are bending over backwards for this guy, something doesn’t add up??
