Bruce-Grey-Owen Sound Conservative Candidate and Member of Parliament (elect), Alex Ruff issued the following statement on the results of the 45th General Election:
“I am once again humbled to get the privilege to continue serving Bruce-Grey-Owen Sound constituents after being elected for a third time. My sincere thanks to all the volunteers who supported me by making thousands of phone calls, installing thousands of signs, and knocking on thousands of doors across the riding.
“I would like to thank the people of our great riding for choosing me with a majority of support to be your voice in Ottawa. While the national results were not what I had hoped for, Conservatives will continue to fight to lower taxes, build affordable housing, invest in our military, and put Canada first.
“While the final results are still trickling in, Canadians sent a message to all parties that we must work to build a more resilient economy, and it will be up to the new Liberal government to deliver on the Conservative ideas that led to their electoral success. Conservatives have won the fight to change the Liberals’ positions on the costly consumer carbon tax, and a national energy corridor to get our resources to market.
“My personal thanks to the other candidates who put their name on the ballot during this campaign and for partaking in the democratic process. It takes a lot of personal sacrifice and work to run for elected office, but our riding is better off with your participation.
“Rest assured, as your Member of Parliament, I will continue to stand up for our rural community and the challenges many Canadians are facing by working for you each and every day. Thank You.”
