Christmas On The Bay (COTB) is determined to be a welcoming space where everyone feels they belong, and has partnered with Breaking Down Barriers (BDB) to help achieve this goal.
Breaking Down Barriers is a registered charity and inclusive agency serving individuals with visible and invisible disabilities, and has developed a special training session for COTB volunteers, which is also open to other volunteers within our community.
According to BDB, “This training session will provide an understanding of what a disability is, and how to support individuals with disabilities in order to create an inclusive and accepting experience for everyone.”
Mary Solomon, COTB’s Director of DEI, noted that, “The training will provide tips on communicating and interacting with a variety of individuals with diverse abilities, including those with visual, hearing, physical, developmental, and dynamic disabilities.”
They invite and encourage all volunteers, COTB or otherwise, to attend. The training session is free.
