The Owen Sound & North Grey Union Public Library, in partnership with Kegedonce Press, is welcoming poet Dan Lockhart on Thursday, September 12 at 7 p.m. for an engaging evening of poetry and discussion. No registration is required for this drop-in program.
Dan Lockhart is the author of seven collections of poetry, including ‘North of Middle Island’ and ‘Go Down Odawa Way’, both published by Kegedonce Press. He is a graduate of Indiana University with an MFA in creative writing, and is a member of the pùkuwànkoamimëns of the Moravian of the Thames First Nation. Lockhart currently resides at Waawiiyaatanong and Pelee Island.
‘North of Middle Island’ explores in verse the culture and territory of Pelee Island and its environments. Pop culture references mingle with deeply grounded reflections as the book culminates in an epic poem in the style of Beowulf, fusing the adventures of WWF wrestler Rowdy Roddy Piper and the Lenape legend of Deerwoman.
