Thank you for publishing my (previous) letter.
I have had a few people comment that the decisions of the U.S. Supreme Court have no effect or meaning for Canada.
This is untrue in many ways. Perhaps the most immediate way is that a Supreme Court decision could help permit a convicted felon (a pathological liar and hatemonger) to assume a place at the helm of the United States.
This would negatively impact not just Canada, but the entire world.
Another way is in reproductive rights. Should several northern states ever become Republican, the result could well be an influx of unfortunate women to seek abortions in Canada, and our healthcare system is already overburdened.
A future Supreme Court decision could pave the way for onerous imposition of tariffs, especially if the U.S. was to someday drop out of the World Trade Organization.
