Juniors Are Optimists For Raising Awareness

The Owen Sound and area Junior Optimists have announced that they are participating in the Coldest Night of the Year fundraiser. The fundraiser for CNOY will allow community youth to walk for a cause on February 24. They will be walking to raise funds for Safe and Sound Grey Bruce, which aids those who struggle with housing insecurity.

This is not our first walk either. The Junior Optimists have been a frequent supporter of the Coldest Night of the Year, and for the third year in a row the members of the Optimists will be sleeping outside to gain further empathy for community members who need emergency shelter facilities during harsh winter conditions,” said the organization.

Last year the Optimists and the Owen Sound youth were the top contributors. They are now asking all youth in Grey Bruce to come out to support the Safe and Sound and join them in walking for solidarity.

This year we won’t make as much money but we hope that opening up to the community we can grow stronger, raise more awareness, and get the funds we can for those who need it most,” said Cam Lovell, Team Captain of the Youth Optimist team.

To join the team and become a fundraising member go to the Coldest Night of the Year website to join, and simply look up ‘Junior Youth Optimists and Owen Sound Community’, and after that you are welcomed aboard.
