Kegedonce Press, Neyaashiinigmiing-based Indigenous Publisher Celebrates 30 Years

Canada’s longest-running dedicated Indigenous publisher, Kegedonce Press, which is based at Neyaashiinigmiing (Cape Croker) and Owen Sound, is celebrating 30 years of publishing beautiful books by Indigenous authors from across the territories of Canada.

To celebrate, the press is hosting a public party at the Grey Roots Museum on Friday, October 13. Kegedonce Press authors D.A. Lockhart and Neal Shannacappo join author, editor, and Kegedonce founder Kateri Akiwenzie-Damm for author readings and a lively conversation about Indigenous books and publishing. Co-host of the Storykeepers Podcast, Jennifer David, will be the guest moderator.

Taking place in the Grey Roots lobby and theatre, the event runs from 6 to 9:30 p.m. Hors d’ouevres and drinks will be catered by Nimishoomis Bison Kitchen from Neyaashiinigmiing. There will be a cash bar with local beer and wine, book sales and author book signings, and ticket holders will receive a swag bag with a free Kegedonce Press book, a 2-for-1 pass to the Grey Roots Museum, and other goodies.

Tickets are available on EventBrite at the ‘Kegedonce Press 30th Anniversary Celebration’ event page. Tickets are $31.15 on Eventbrite or $38 at the door.
