Ollie Bodnar passed away peacefully at the Meaford Hospital on Saturday, August 12, 2023, still proudly living on her own at the age of 90.
Born in Mayfair, SK, on a rural farm on January 1, 1933, she was a daughter of the late Mary Marie (1896-1988) and Michael Earnest (1893-1970) Bodnar, who immigrated from Ukraine in 1923 to find a better life.
Predeceased by her sister, Mary Marie, and her brothers Bill, Tony, Nick, and John, as well as her son, Arthur MacLeod.
Lovingly remembered and missed by her children – Mary Anne and Gary Barnett, John and Lana MacLeod, and Debbie and Gary Shaw. Loving Grandma to Chris and Shawn, Jenna and John James, Vanessa and Wade. Great-grandma to Kaleb, Everleigh, Shawn Jr, Rellen, Mason, Elizabeth, Maelle, Baron, and Harlow. She will be fondly remembered by numerous nieces and nephews. And will be remembered as a Loving Mom, Grandma, Great-grandma and Friend to Us All.
Although Mom was small, she worked hard at whatever she did and was liked by all, working at various jobs in her life in Montreal, Toronto, and Alliston, before retiring in Meaford.
She will be missed by her friends and their meet-ups at Timmie’s, where she easily made more friends.
As per Mom’s wishes, cremation has taken place and there will be no funeral service. A celebration of life for Mom will be held at a later date.
A special thanks to the EMS attendants, nurses, and doctors at the Meaford Hospital, who looked after Mom in her last few days.
As your expression of sympathy, donations in Ollie’s memory can be made to the Meaford Hospital Foundation, which she always supported, and may be made through the Ferguson Funeral Home, 48 Boucher St. E., Meaford, ON, N4L 1B9, to whom arrangements have been entrusted.
