At the end of April surveyors from Accreditation Canada were on site at all six GBHS hospitals to review and evaluate the organization against Canadian hospital quality and safety standards.
“With results now finalized, GBHS is thrilled to announce our team’s incredible success of achieving Exemplary Standing, a designation that is the highest award available through the hospital accreditation program,” said the GBHS.
Some noted strengths outlined by the surveyors were:
- Energy within the organization – new directions
- Positive, high functioning teams
- Strengthened physician relationships
- Community partnerships
- Enhanced mental health services
- Investments in health human resources
- Leadership development
- Non-emergent medical team
To recognize this success, GBHS will be hosting celebratory barbecues across all GBHS sites. The barbecues will take place from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. on the following dates:
- June 9 – Southampton
- June 13 – Meaford
- June 14 – Owen Sound
- June 15- Wiarton & Lions Head
- June 16 – Markdale
