National AccessAbility Week: Getting Outside

It is Day 3 of National AccessAbility week, and we are taking it outside!

The Blue Dolphin Pool is a favourite place to be in the Municipality. Opening for the 2022 season on Saturday, June 11, the Pool features recently upgraded “easy-stairs” into the shallow end, as well as chair lift to provide accessible access into the pool.

For beachgoers, Mobi-Mats at David Johnson Park will soon be installed for another year. The Mobi-Mats provide a portable walkway across rough terrain, allowing easy access to park features like accessible picnic tables. Mobi-Mats work well for people with mobility-related disabilities, people using mobility aids, and stroller users.

For playground lovers, the Optimist Club of Sydenham & District officially opened the accessible playground in beautiful Hibou Conservation Area last year. Playground visitors can enjoy the spinning chair, freedom swing, braille board, and lots of other accessible features at this exciting new playground.
