Our family is sad to announce the death of Nora Elizabeth Black of Meaford, age 54. Nora was born on August 8, 1967, in Collingwood, spending summers at the family cottage in Craigleith. She died in Belize on August 27, 2021, from complications after a medical procedure.
After working in Toronto for condo developers, Nora obtained her real estate license, working with Locations North in Thornbury. A strong negotiator and client advocate, she enjoyed helping people find a home in the beautiful area where she grew up. Since 2020, she was saddened to witness businesses permanently close, destroying dreams and livelihoods.
Nora was a generous host and a killer cook, with an outspoken, mischievous sense of humour. We’ll remember her organizing the cousins’ get togethers, which she called Cousinpalooza. She adored her feline fur babies Raggles, Silva, and Pumpkin. Even as her health failed, she found them loving homes.
For the past couple of years, Nora struggled with declining health. Despite this, in 2021 she achieved her dream of buying property in Belize.
Nora was predeceased by parents Yvonne and Rick Black of Collingwood and leaves behind sister Karen Black of Port Hope. She will be missed by “the cousins”: Anne Loxton (Rob), David Ridding, Todd Girdwood (Cindy), David (Alison), John (Shakti), and Stephen (Simone) Clark, colleagues and friends in Canada and in Belize.
Cremation has taken place. If you are moved to do so, consider a donation to Meaford’s SailGeorgianBay.ca, a sailing school for kids.
