The family of William Frederick ‘Fred’ Tippin are deeply saddened to announce his passing peacefully in his 81st year on July 12, 2021, at his home in Meaford surrounded by his loving family and wife Fran.
Fred was born in Collingwood Township on March 23, 1941, to Wilfred and Hazel (nee Skippen) Tippin. Fred is survived by his wife and soul mate Fran C. Tippin (nee Smith) and by his daughters ‘Buffy’ Elizabeth Robbins and her husband Bill, Karen Galiher and her husband Chris, and Krista Tippin and her husband Dave Brak. He will be missed by his four grandchildren Justin, MacKenzie, Kirsten, and Charlize. He is also survived by brothers John Tippin and his wife Betty, Garry Tippin and his wife Alberta, and by his sister Carol Tabaque and her husband Fred. He was predeceased by his parents and by a brother, James Morton Tippin, and is remembered fondly by his nieces, nephews, and by his many friends whom he loved.
Fred made many contributions to the community. He enjoyed working on the ‘Take a Kid Fishing’ weekend with the local Anglers and Hunters Club for over 20 years. Fred loved sports and enjoyed sharing his love and knowledge of baseball by coaching and umpiring many games. He was a true lover of nature and shared this excitement for the outdoors with his family.
Family may receive friends for a public visitation at the Ferguson Funeral Home in Meaford on Sunday afternoon, July 18,, from 2 until 5 p.m. A private Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by family only at St. Mary’s Roman Catholic Church in Owen Sound on Monday, July 19, 2021, with a service of committal and interment following at Lakeview Cemetery in Meaford.
Please be mindful that all Public Health measures and current restrictions with respect to Covid remain in effect and masks must be worn for both the visitation period and the funeral and interment service. Fred’s family thanks Dr. Terrana, Dr. Hudson, Meaford IDA Pharmacy, and the wonderful medical support staff in the community for the care and compassion they have received.
