For the past few years the Riverside Community Centre Board has made donations to several local charities.
Some of the groups which have benefited from this generosity are the Residential Hospice of Grey Bruce, Golden Town Outreach and Food Bank, the North East Grey Health Team, and Meaford Hospital Foundation, with half of the donation to be used for Palliative Care and the other half of the donation going towards fundraising for the new MRI machine.
In 2019 a donation of $1,500 was pledged to the Backpacks for Learning Program at Georgian Bay Community School. Half of this donation, $750, was presented in 2019 with the balance to be given at a Breakfast at Riverside in 2020. However, due to COVID restrictions Riverside Hall has been closed since March so no breakfasts have been held.
Since the activities at the hall are still curtailed, a cheque for $750 has been sent to Amy Teed-Acres, organizer of the Backpacks for Learning Program, to fulfill the pledge made in 2019.
