On Thursday, February 20, at approximately 8:00 p.m., Grey County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) received a report of a break-in to a residence on Victoria Street in the Municipality of Meaford.

The suspect forcibly entered the residence through a window and then proceeded to unlock the front door, allowing two female acquaintances (both 13 years old) to enter.

The accused removed two part bottles of alcohol and several bottles of beer from the home.  The trio then left the residence through the front door.

With the assistance of witnesses, the suspect was identified and arrested in the area a short time later.  He was found to be intoxicated at the time of the arrest.  The two girls received warnings.

The 16 year old male accused, who was on probation for a previous break-in, was charged with break and entering into a dwelling house under the Criminal Code as well as breach of probation under the Youth Criminal Justice Act (YCJA).

He was held in custody pending a bail hearing scheduled for today, February 21st, 2014.
