Will Our Electronic Files Stand the Test of Time?

Letter to the Editor

Dear Editor,

I was looking at my books and found one called The Century Books of Facts—What you need to know going into the 20th Century. Near it was a book from 1821 recording the letters by Julius. It was bought for the sale price of 100 pounds, on 08/09/90. I thought it meant 1990 but no—it meant 1890.

The question becomes, how much of the stuff we store on computers will be available in 100 plus years? How many wedding pictures will be there in 50 years? How many children’s special time pictures will outlive them? Maybe we should reconsider our dependence on computers.

Just a thought to be thunk,

Roberta Docherty
