Letter to the Editor
Dear Editor,
I would like to thank Marty Tengelis for his letter to The Meaford Independent about his frustration of the patios in front of his business. I run A.J’s Hairworks, and am next door neighbours to both Harbour Microtrends and the Leeky Canoe.
I am in the same boat as Marty. I have lost business due to the monstrosity of a ‘patio’ in front of my business. I have lost my downtown presence. Clients are unable to see my shop. I have clients with mobility issues that are now unable to make it into my shop.
Patios are a needed thing for this year, and yet the Leeky’s patio has hindered two business to survive this year. I have been trying to keep the lines of communication open with a few people who work for the municipality, as well as the mayor. I am frustrated that I haven’t been acknowledged about my recent concerns.
I have run my business for 12 years in Meaford. I picked Meaford. I am proud to be a part of Meaford. I am disappointed with Meaford, as well as the municipality, for this outcome.
Alice Jensen, Meaford
