Police Want to Speak With Person Of Interest in Sprung Murder Investigation

Ontario’s Criminal Investigation Branch, and OPP investigators are looking to speak with a person of interest in the Emerson Sprung murder investigation.

On May 3, 2020, at 4:02 p.m., Grey Bruce Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) received a report of a missing person, Emerson Sprung. The 25-year-old male was last seen on May 2 at 9 p.m., leaving the family residence at Trowbridge Street West in Meaford on his BMX bicycle.

Human remains, located on May 6, were identified as that of the missing male, Emerson Sprung. OPP have arrested and charged 34-year-old Matthew McQuarrie of Meaford with first-degree murder.

The investigation remains ongoing under the direction of the Criminal Investigation Branch, and OPP investigators are looking to speak with a person of interest. An unknown person is observed in video footage collected from a private camera at Grant Avenue on May 2 at 8:59 p.m. and again at 9:10 p.m.

This person is believed to be a male wearing a dark-coloured coat with a stripe or logo that extends around the mid-section of the coat, wearing dark pants and light-coloured shoes. Two photos of this individual are attached to this release. Police are seeking additional information relating to this crime and if you’re the person in this video please contact Grey Bruce OPP.
