Reader Wonders Why Public Meeting For Leith Beach Proposal Was Held

Letter to the Editor

Editor,

At the council meeting on Monday, June 10, a comment by a local resident and past owner of the Leith Beach property in question bears repeating: Why are we having this meeting? If the municipal park in question were Fred Raper park in the town of Meaford, the process would never have got to this point.

Cherished public space would not be threatened.

Time would not be wasted.

One hundred concerned citizens would not have ‘fossil fuelled’ it 30 km to a public meeting.

Jean Koroway, Annan

Editor’s Note: To answer the question, if a similar proposal/request were made in relation to Fred Raper Park, the same sort of public meeting would have been held in order to allow public input prior to any council decision.
