Meaford youth Mikaela Adams will be participating in this year’s CNE Ambassador of the Fairs competition, which takes place from August 17-19.
The Ambassador of the Fairs competition is a longstanding tradition at the CNE (47th year) that aims to promote, educate, and celebrate Canadian agriculture while bridging the gap between rural and urban communities.
The competition shines a spotlight on the importance of agricultural society and the next generation of young ambassadors who are proud to uphold the traditions of rural life and farming in Ontario.
The 18-year-old, who has held the title of Beaver Valley Fall Fair Ambassador, says that she is excited about being part of this long-running competition.
“I am super excited to be attending the 2018 CNE to compete for Ambassador of the Fairs and have a weekend with the other ambassadors,” said Adams.
More than 3,000 contestants, both male and female, have participated in the annual event from over 100 communities across Ontario since its conception.
The year-long title takes the winner throughout the province as a representative of the CNE and all agricultural fairs. Contestants are judged on everything from knowledge of ‘The Ex’, agriculture, poise, personality, and the overall impression during the three-day competition. Finals will take place this year on Sunday, August 19, in the Queen Elizabeth Theatre during the CNE.
