The Friends of the Meaford Library are excited to announce that the Fundraising Committee for the new library facility is now complete. On Monday, January 29, the Council of the Municipality of Meaford passed a by-law confirming the following as members of the committee: Peter Bantock, Elaine Burns, Theresa Elliott, Nadia Ellis, Kim Grafton, and Jane Leckenby.
“The Friends are delighted to have the Fundraising Committee in place,” says Peter Bantock, president of the Friends group. “This is going to be a very exciting time for our community as Meaford begins building its new accessible library. The Fundraising Committee will be collecting donations for the project and will be recruiting volunteers from the community for its fundraising efforts.”
The first meeting of the Fundraising Committee will be on Tuesday, February 13 at 4 p.m. in the Meaford Public Library board room. The meeting is open to the public and anyone who is interested in hearing about the group’s activities is encouraged to attend.
To date, $150,560 has been raised to support the new library facility at 11 Sykes Street N., including a $50,000 contribution from the Friends of the Meaford Library. Information on the new library is available at: www.meaford.ca/newlibrary. Donations can be made to the Friends of the Meaford Library at that website or at the library.
Fundraising work has already begun with the Rotary Club of Meaford for its annual Rotary Trivia Night on Friday, October 19. Please save the date, join a Trivia team, and plan to be part of this enjoyable evening of fun and facts – with funds raised going to the new library facility.
